The national event for the first UK Armed Forces Day, held on 27 June 2009 at The Historic Dockyard, Chatham, is a sell-out, with all free tickets now allocated – but there are still lots of ways to get involved.
The Chatham celebrations aren’t restricted to the 27 June. Click here to download the brochure of Medway’s Armed Forces week: from displays of military equipment to fire and circus shows, there’s something for everyone. Alternatively, look for another local event using the ‘Find an event’ page.
On the day itself, the Celebration Parade through Chatham town centre that kicks off the day at 1035 is open to all. Members of the Royal Navy, Army and RAF, led by the band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines, will be joined by veterans of all ages as the Parade proceeds along Dock Road into The Historic Dockyard, where those lucky enough to have secured a ticket can expect a day packed with ceremony, excitement, have-a-go adventure and commemoration, including military displays on land, water and air, live music and a ‘Veterans’ Rendezvous’ point.
