Dawsmere — 24 June 2017
3rd Annual Armed Forces Day Classic and Vintage Vehicle Show
- Church Street,
The Old School,
This is a show for all classic and vintage vehicles including cars, motor bikes, agricultural and military vehicles with prizes awarded in each category, plus a community based fayre with stalls, food and drink, music, activities for children and a treasure hunt. Christ Church Dawsmere, which is opposite the venue site, is also participating with displays of old photographs and memorabilia, floral displays, refreshments and their traditional home-made cake stall. We have secured a BBMF Flypast of both Spitfire and Dakota. The local primary school, youth club and village hall committee have all been invited to participate with free space to pursue fundraising activities if they wish. During the day all visitors are given the chance to vote for their favourite vehicle, and the winners in each category are given a memento of the day. Our aim is to fund-raise for the Royal British Legion whilst at the same time promote community spirit within our village which is sadly lacking at the moment with no other events of this kind organised, and to this end we offer free admission to walk-in visitors, especially to encourage low income families to have a day out at very little cost, if they so wish. This is our 3rd year putting on this event. All profits go to the Royal British Legion.
