Step Into Health: NHS Armed Forces Showcase Event
- Iverna Gardens
London W8 6TN
Step into Health is a collaborative, employer-led project, designed to reduce health and social issues that can be seen in the Armed Forces community, as well as enabling meaningful employment which we strongly believe improves mental and physical health outcomes.
Through hosting insight days, providing bespoke work placements and 1:1 mentoring the NHS provides support to aid the transition from the military to civilian life and aids the recruitment of excellent people into the NHS. Step into Health is available to the whole Armed Forces community.
NHS employees are encouraged to network, offer work placements and to be mentors to the Armed Forces community, which raises the profile of this group in the NHS and the need to support them.
The project has also raised the profile of reservists currently working in the NHS and working in collaboration with NHS Employers we have identified reservist champions, hosted regional reservist meetings, changed HR and recruitment processes and educated managers to be able to support reservists within their teams.
This showcase event is to highlight the work being done in the NHS to support the Armed Forces community. We will highlight our successes, challenges associated with placing veterans within healthcare – and how we overcame them – as well as encourage participation from NHS organisations not currently involved.
