Middlesbrough — 18 June 2016
Armed Forces Day 2016
- Park Road North,
Middlesbrough will again show its support for the UK’s service personnel and veterans on Armed Forces Day.
This year, Armed Forces Day will take place in Albert Park and will be run by local reservist volunteers. The park will be a fitting venue for this fun-filled family day, including a parade, band performance and a variety of demonstrations, activities and entertainment. Armed Forces Day is a national celebration of local support for the military.
The day runs from 10.30am to 3pm and is open to all, from families and local groups to veterans and potential new recruits. The celebration – formerly known as Veterans’ Day – has been developed to reflect the wider role of the UK Armed Forces in the life of the nation and its local communities, and their involvement in ongoing conflicts around the globe. Highlights of the day will include a parade of service veterans, Air, Sea and Army Cadets, the military standards, veterans, local Army and Cadet units.
The day is being supported by local reserve units, Middlesbrough Council, Middlesbrough College and Taylor Wimpey.
