The event will be held on a local farm, which has diversified, and can offer a large barn and cafe for activities during the day and a 1940s dance on the evening. Also surrounding fields with a marquee to hold stalls and entertainment all affiliated with veteran and current armed services – including Army Cadets, Air Cadets, British Legion Poppy Appeal etc. There will be a parade up the private road adjoining the farm to officially open the event – along with a Deputy Lieutenant of the county. Throughout the day there will be visits to the adjoining Harperley Prisoner of War Camp; talks about the history of two world wars along with a historical exhibition and the involvement of the Monarchy during the two world wars; live music, food, children’s themed rides and side-stalls that will fit with the 1940s era.
There will be re-enactments, displays of war-time vehicles, including caravans, an American Jeep and a tank! The nearby village will be asked to decorate their homes with flags in line with a celebration of VE Day.

There will be charity stalls, all linked to past and present armed services. There will be a vintage ice-cream van, a fish and chip van for hot food, craft stalls and activities – workshops too for children to make wooden toys and gifts. And more may be added as the day approaches. Children’s foraging workshops in the woods owned by the farm.
