Sleaford — 21 June 2021
Armed Forces Day Flag Raising and Veteran’s lunch
We begin our celebrations with the traditional Armed Forces Flag Raising ceremony in the Grounds of St Deny’s
Church, alongside Sleaford Market Place square at 10.30am on the 21st June. This will feature a Veteran Bugler and attended by representatives from our local RAF Cranwell and RAF Digby, local dignitaries, veterans, local army and air cadets. The Vicar of St Denys Church, Sleaford will bless the Ceremony and veterans from the Royal British Legion, SAFFA, will also take part along with senior officers from RAF Cranwell and RAF Digby. The Flag Raising ends with a range of songs sung by a collaborative choir from children across the North Kesteven District Primary Schools with light refreshments being served at the end of the performance.
The event then moves to our Civic suite for a Veterans’ Lunch. This is a ticketed event for our 2021 Veterans’ Badge
recipients, other Veterans, guests and members of the public. Awarding the Veteran’s badges, the Leader of the
District Council is a Veteran himself. As this is a free event, we are asking for help with the costs of managing all
the elements of the event. All of the above is subject to Covid-19 restrictions and government guidance.
