Banbridge — 27 June 2020
Armed Forces Day NI 2020
A parade of the armed services will commence at approximately 10.30am through the town of Banbridge to the main event hub at Banbridge Rugby Club. The parade will include representatives from the cadets, services & veterans.
After the Drumhead service at 12.00noon (which will be celebrated by the principal chaplain to NI as well as a local minister), the free event at Banbridge Rugby Club will include a wide range of activities to include: Parachute Displays, Military stands & displays, archery, assault courses, unarmed combat displays, military bands, children’s area, hot food village, main stage with entertainment provided throughout the day, Tug-of-war competition including the armed services and other local groups, Rugby Sevens competition and many other activities for people of all ages.
Banbridge is extremely well located on the main A1 road approximately 30 minutes from Belfast. It is also easily accessed from the south via the A1 from Newry City. There are regular bus services from the main cities and towns within NI and the bus station is located very close to the event & parade site.
We are in discussions with two large car parks close to the event hub in order to provide a park-and-ride service. These buses will run throughout the day and will have a number of pick-up points. We are very cognisant of people with physical disabilities and a substantial number of parking spaces will be retained at the Rugby Club itself to ensure ease of access.
We are aiming Armed Forces Day NI 2020 to be one of the major celebratory events in the UK at the time. It is important to note that Armed Forces Day NI 2020 will be the only event within the devolved Northern Ireland which has the full support of each of the services and RFCA.
