Armed Forces Day – Reading
- The Forbury
Reading pays tribute to The Armed Forces and its Veterans with a host of family friendly music and activities in the beautiful surroundings of Forbury Gardens as well in Broad Street in the Town Centre.
In the Forbury Gardens families can enjoy Balloon modelling and Face-painting and visitors can sit back and listen to live music from 11.00am onwards or pay a visit to the many regiment, charity and community organisations who will be hosting information and fundraising stands in the gardens on the day.
Entry is free to the Gardens so bring a picnic or enjoy an afternoon tea from the tea tent.
Highlights will be a performance from a military band who will be performing at both Broad Street and the Bandstand at the Forbury Gardens. We will also have a performance from Diane James as Dame Vera Lynn in the gardens on the day.
There will also be activity stands in Broad Street where The Salvation Army will be performing.
The culmination of this year’s celebrations will see the annual HM Armed Forces Veteran’s Badge ceremony for Veterans of the Armed Forces from 4pm.
