Armed Forces Showcase Day Event – Wythenshawe

The Defence Medical Welfare Service and University Hospital South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust (UHSM) are co-hosting an Armed Forces Showcase day on Tuesday 20 June at Wythenshawe Hospital.
The aim of the day is to introduce hospital staff, and the public to the breadth of military charities and organisations available to help and support veterans and military personnel undergoing medical treatment or with ongoing health and care needs.
The event takes place in the Education and Research Centre, entrance 15 at Wythenshawe Hospital, Southmoor Rd, Wythenshawe, Manchester M23 9LT between 10am and 3.30pm.

The Defence Medical Welfare Service will be hosting briefing sessions throughout the day covering the following topics:
• The Armed Forces Covenant – who & where are the Armed Forces Community, what the Covenant means, its obligations, responsibilities and challenges between 10.15am- 10.45am and 12.45pm-1.15pm.
• Veterans’ Health – including mental health, between 11.00am-11.30am and 1.30pm-2pm.
• Working with Armed Forces Community members – the culture of the armed forces, its values and standards, language & humour, expectations & resources, between 11.45am-12.15pm and 2.15pm-2.45pm.
The event is open to members of the veteran community, their families and carers, hospital staff and members of the public.
