Armed Forces – Working With The Hard Stuff
Clywedog Creative Hub will be holding a Full Day taster session of Stone Carving as an introduction to our Creative Course ‘Working With The Hard Stuff” which is free for Armed Forces veterans who are finding it difficult to adapt to civilian life, and who may also be experiencing PTSD, anxiety and social isolation.
It is run by Radiate Arts CIC, a not-for-profit community arts company based at the Clywedog Creative Hub, and in collaboration with Combat Stress Charity, who will refer suitable veterans to the course (along with their partners if required).
On the taster day, participants will learn the basics of stone carving and experience creativity with stone. This will enable them to create something unique, problem-solve in a physical and 3-dimensional way, and the creative process will ultimately allow them to be completely “in the moment”, help them to engaged in an expressive and personal way and form a relationship with the other participants.
There will be a trained counsellor and a practicing sculptor at hand to guide and assist them. Lunch and refreshments will be included.
This event will be a celebration for Armed Forces Day and will be suitable for those who would like to take part in celebrating this day but who may feel uncomfortable in large crowds and noisy settings.
