Bodmin Keep Armed Forces Day with Cornwall Military Vehicle Trust
- Cornwall's Regimental Museum
Castle Canyke Rd
Bodmin PL31 1EG
We are excited to announce that members of the Cornwall Branch of the Military Vehicle Trust (CMVT) will be coming to Bodmin Keep on Armed Forces Day, the 24th June 2017.
For one day only, military vehicles from various historical periods will be stationed outside The Keep. Come and see the magnificent machines and chat to members of the CMVT who will be on hand to answer questions and talk about the roles of each vehicle in historic military theatres, as well as share their stories about the joys – and otherwise – of owning a historic military vehicle!
The Cornish Branch of the national Military Vehicle Trust are a friendly group who specialise in the restoration, preservation and display of military vehicles of all types, both wartime and post war. You can find out more on their website, or find them on facebook.
The museum’s pop up café will be running on the day, where visitors will be able to enjoy a cuppa and piece of cake before heading up to the museum to look around the extensive collections. Visitors can explore our armoury, which has been termed the ‘finest collection of weaponry in the South West’. Other museum displays include The Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry (DCLI) collection and the National Collection of the Light Infantry (LI), as well as objects from the Cornwall Militia.
There is no extra charge for this event. Members of the public are only asked to pay our usual museum entry rates (which includes an annual museum pass), and we are delighted to offer free entry to members of the ‘Armed Forces Family’ – Serving personnel, Veterans, Cadets and their Families. This Armed Forces Day event is one of the ways we would like to show our support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving troops to Service families, veterans and cadets. (Find out more on the Military pages of our website)
There will be limited parking at the museum on the day due to the presence of the military vehicles. Pay and display parking is available 100 metres level walk to the rear of the museum along Castle Canyke Road. For directions and information regarding the Bodmin town improvements please see the visitor information and directions page on our website, or contact us.
Disabled access: The vehicles, pop up café, second hand book sales, library and toilet facilities are on the ground floor, however please note that the museum is situated on the first and second floors of the museum. Please do contact us in advance if you have any questions or if you would like us to assist with accessibility during your visit, we are always happy to try to accommodate for our visitors requirements.
