Bolton Armed Forces Day
A short service on Victoria Square led by the Vicar of Bolton starts Bolton’s Armed Forces Day and the Mayor of Bolton Cllr Linda Thomas will lay a wreath at the War Memorial on behalf of the Citizens of Bolton and we want to remember and commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Victory in Europe VE and Victory in Japan VJ. There will be over 25 stalls offering advice on wellbeing, Bolton’s Museum staff on the history of Bolton’s population that went to war, Bolton’s local 216 RA Battery will be present with large live display guns and military vehicles. The Home Guard will be here to talk about their roles and in uniforms to look like Dad’s Army characters. Emergency Response vehicles on display to interact with. Free family fun entertainment including Bolton Wanderers Community Trust Football Stadia, large football dart board and other fun games for all the kids big and small to enjoy . Bolton’s 3 Cadets will be in attendance to give displays and compete in the Centenary Cadets Challenge Shield. Our local community Radio Bolton FM will be broadcasting live on the day and involved in the events. The Lancashire Artillery (V) Band will be performing for everyone and they are amazing. Basically this is a fun and enjoyable entertaining day for all the family, to raise awareness, to show support and thanks for our Armed Forces. This is always a popular event and something Bolton is proud to organise and we hope to see you there.
