Bradford — 25 June 2022
Bradford Armed Forces Day Event
Our event will commence with a special Drum Head Service and will be followed by our Lord Mayor then opening the celebratory event to the Armed Forces Community and the public. We will have music, stalls, food concessions, displays about the role and contribution of the Armed Forces Community across the world and to the UK as a whole, a place where members of the public can pledge their personal support to the Armed Forces and a message board where people can post their messages of appreciation for everything that the Armed Forces do. In collaboration with the Bradford Literacy Festival, our Libraries Service and Sports and Leisure Service, there will be book readings and other activities specifically for children. We will also be talking to people and getting their views about plans to create a Commonwealth Memorial in the City Centre – an initiative that we are proud to announce is community-led. We will be inviting all local organisations that have signed the Covenant to support and participate at the event. Staged to provide a fun day out for all the family and to inform the public of the unique contribution and sacrifice of the Armed Forces Community both here and abroad, the event will also provide a place where people can celebrate and show their support. It will also aim to show the local Armed Forces Community the level and depth of support for them from across all our diverse communities.
