Brighton & Hove Armed Forces Day

On Armed Forces Day Saturday June 27 New Road in the centre of Brighton will be the venue for a day of activities and entertainment, beginning with a parade of veterans and cadets at 11am.
The event is being organised by Brighton & Hove City Council, the Royal British Legion and other partners. All veterans are welcome to join in with the parade – tose wishing to take part should gather at 10.30 in Jubilee Street and the parade will then go along New Road. The Lord Lieutenant of East Sussex Peter Field, High Sheriff of East Sussex Mrs Juliet Smith , Mayor of Brighton & Hove, Cllr Lynda Hyde and Lt Col Gary Britton will be in attendance.
The day will continue with music and entertainment in the street from bands Vintage Hot 5 and Hoochie Toots between 12 noon and 4pm.
There will be performances in Unitarian Church in New Road at 1.30pm including WW1 songs and poems performed by Stanford Junior Schoo, Talks on the involvement of Indian troops in WW1, the Royal Pavilion as an Indian Hospital during WW1 and the Chattri Memorial, followed by Readings of letters written by the Indian soldiers who were hospitalised in Brighton during WW1. Information stalls from armed forces charities will be set up in the street from 10am to 4pm.
