Creative Cultural Celebratory Exhibition Highlighting African and Caribbean Colonies’ Historical Roles in the Armed Forces

When
12:00 am to 4:00 pm
Location

Telford African and Afro-Caribbean Resource Cente (TAARC), a UK registered charity, will host a celebratory exhibition on Saturday 25th July 2022, Armed Forces Day. We will highlight pictures of African and Afro-Caribbean men and women who served in past World Wars for the United Kingdom.
Our celebratory exhibition will include Caribbean steelband, singers, poetry recital by the Wellington Telford Resident Poet. The day will be decorated in colourful buntings and flags representing African and Caribbean colonies, now Commonwealth nations, who served in the wars. African and Caribbean nibbles and drinks, will be served at the celebratory exhibition.
During the celebratory exhibition, we will invite local Windrush members and their families who will have experience of close relatives who served in the armed forces. We will also invite leaders and dignitaries covering several ethnic community groups, including Telford and Wrekin Multi-Cultural Women’s group, welcoming them to wear traditional dress. We will also invite families through local schools with whom we have links, as well as the general public.
