Cricket Match for Armed Forces Wounded Veterans v. The Rest of The World
- Cheltenham GL54 2LP
It is a very charming, special and amateur cricket match held by Supporting Wounded Veterans (reg. charity no 1149727) on a quintessential Cotswold village cricket ground, all are welcome. Our mission is to help medically discharged Armed Forces wounded veterans back into meaningful life and occupation. Once the veterans have joined our ‘programme’ of rehabilitation they are ‘part of the family’ and the cricket match is an example of how we continue to support and encourage their recovery showing them that ‘anything is possible’. The teams (Armed Forces wounded veterans v. rest of world) are organised by our volunteer supporters and everyone is welcome to come, watch and enjoy the day. The match starts at 11am and finishes at approx. 5.30pm after prize giving and a raffle at 4.45pm. There is a break for lunch at 1.30pm when a BBQ will be served to all, drinks are available throughout the day and also tea and cake during the afternoon. Our beneficiaries, Armed Forces wounded veterans are incredibly grateful for the day – we held our first cricket match last year and it was a huge success for both players and spectators. There is no charge to attend; donations will be welcome. Please note we have already publicised this event to our core supporters and all the veterans but as the website is updated by one of our volunteers, the events’ page has not yet been updated for the Summer – we hope the cricket match will be up next week and certainly by the end of April.
