30 June 2018
Doncaster Armed Forces Day
- Market Place
Doncaster DN1 1NE
Building on the success of previous year’s events Doncaster will once again host our Armed Forces Day celebration in the town centre.
A parade honouring both serving and ex-servicemen will travel throughout the town centre starting from Doncaster’s Grade 1 listed Mansion House and ending at Doncaster Minster. Using the garden space around Doncaster Minster we will create a street party, this will be themed in keeping with the war years (1920’s – 40’s) and will feature refreshments and entertainment for the public. The event will run immediately following the parade into the early evening. Visitors will be encouraged to dress in the style of the period and engage with the street party activities.
Throughout the parade route, relevant organisations will be represented and the streets will be decorated to commemorate not only the 100 years since the end of the First World War but also the formation of the RAF – something very relevant to us here in Doncaster with our rich aircraft history.
Doncaster has a number of aviation, RAF, industrial heritage and transport related attractions who will engage with demonstrations, displays and participation.
The day will be family friendly and totally free to attend with food and drink available for purchase from a number of stall holders. A swing band, vocalists and entertainers will offer plenty of fun for the whole family.
