Veterans and cadets will join the Mayor and town councillors at the bandstand in the Borough Gardens for an open air Civic Service at 1345. After the service, the Mayor of Dorchester will present veterans badges to any veterans who have applied for a badge. There will follow music from the bandstand with music provided by the Durnovaria Band. Other entertainment will be organised. There will be stalls in the Gardens promoting the RNA, SAAFA etc, showing how they support veterans. A stall will be manned by a local historian and illustrate Dorchester’s Contribution to WWI. Other groups have been invited to have a stall.
The nearest parking is in the Top o’ Town, Wollasten Field and the Trinity Street car parks, all of which are a short walk from the Borough Gardens. Both Dorchester West and Dorchester South railway stations are also a short walk from the Borough Gardens. There is no admission charge and there is a café and toilets in the gardens. The public are welcome to bring a picnic.
