FACE TO FACE WITH ARMED FORCES
Our aim is to bring together Armed forces and their families with different communities , especially those in Rochdale and neighbouring boroughs. Without rational steps to bring these communities together, there is a risk of increasing alienating both serving and retired members of the armed forces. Armed forces groups, groups have skills that can be of benefit to the wider community, and our initial consultations suggest that the new and old settlers in the community in particular are keen interact with the armed forces to find an outlet to share their abilities through volunteering activities.
We will bring these groups together by serving hot cooked meals, BBQ Carnival (carribean style) and drinks, and providing opportunities for informal English conversation, playing musical instruments, fashion show, and educational activities. Periods will be set aside for different armed forces groups and members to share positive experiences and aspirations, and support will be provided to help the group identify ways of using their skills to benefit the wider community. There will also be opportunities for community members to share about their respective experiences, fostering increased cultural understanding and help confront mental health stigma among armed forces members.
We will provide activities for children including face painting ,jumping castle and games.
