Liverpool — 29 June 2019
Liverpool Armed Forces Day 2019
As part of Liverpool’s commitment to support national Armed Forces Day and the City’s status as a Gold Star organisation of the Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) under the Armed Forces Covenant, Culture Liverpool will be hosting a tri-service event on the Royal Albert Dock. As in previous years there will be a number of assets from each of the 3 services highlighting and celebrating the work that the armed forces personnel do.
Liverpool City Council for the second year, will be organising Armed Forces Day, Saturday 29 June. Festivities will begin with a formal ceremony at St Nick’s church, then a parade will make its way to the gates of The Royal Albert Dock, where military assets will be complimented with recruiting stands, performances and military demonstrations during the day from each of the services.
Armed Forces Day is a chance for the city and the country to show its support and thanks to the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community from currently serving troops to service families, veterans and cadets.
In the week leading up to Armed Forces Day, Culture Liverpool will host and support a series celebrations across the city; such as a formal flag raising on civic buildings, HMS Eaglets Annual Award ceremony on Exchange Flags and an online Blog as part of The RISE season. This will shine a light on military women whose impact has been felt in their community, in their home city or town, vocation or across the world.
