Morden — 27 June 2015
London Borough of Merton 5th Annual Armed Forces Day Parade
- Abbotsbury Road,
A chance to show support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community. From currently serving troops to Service families, veterans and cadets. There are many ways for people, communities and organisations across the country to show their support and here in Morden there is a parade on the morning of Saturday 27th June organised by Cllr Maxi Martin.
It’s a big event for the area, with multiple road closures, police presence and stewards marshalling the route.
The parade musters in Abbotsbury Road at 9.30am, setting off at 10.00am and moving at a comfortable pace along the route.
It proceeds along the High Street, past the shops and Civic Centre, along the dual carriageway, past the mosque and colleague until it reaches St Lawrence’s Church at approximately 11.30am; there will be a short service outside the church at this time.
United Kingdom’s Brigade of Gurkhas commemorates 200 years of service to the Crown this year and their attendees will be celebrating at the parade.
Refreshments will be laid on afterwards at the mosque, St. Lawrence’s church and Lawrence Weaver Institute.
