NI’s Armed Forces Day Events in Mid & East Antrim

Mid and East Antrim Borough Council is hosting the 2015 Armed Forces Day event for Northern Ireland.
Plans for the 3 day event are well underway and it promises to be a spectacular programme of family activities across the 3 main towns of Mid and East Antrim – Ballymena, Carrickfergus and Larne. The event will run over the weekend of 19th-21st June 2015, and be enjoyed by families, military personnel, veterans and visitors. A must see event.
The celebrations will begin on Friday 19th June with a “curtain raising” maritime-focused event at the waterfront area in Carrickfergus. On Saturday 20th June activities move to Ballymena where there will be an all-day programme, opening with a military, veterans and cadets parade through the town to the Ballymena Showgrounds. On arrival at the Showgrounds, a Drumhead Service and welcome ceremony will take place. Participants and spectators will then be able to enjoy an exciting range of arena displays, sports competitions between military and civilian teams, and a wide variety of exhibitions sure to please all ages. The day’s celebrations will conclude with “Beating a Retreat” and a closing ceremony. The “finale” event will be held in Larne on Sunday 21st June and will include a reflective church service with military music support and tri-service Senior Military Representation.
