Cleethorpes — 27–28 June 2015
North East Lincolnshire Armed Forces Weekend
- 12 Knoll Street,
North East Lincolnshire Armed Forces Day 2013 held at Cleethorpes in North East Lincolnshire, proved to be an outstanding success with confirmed attendance by over 62,000 people. We expect to build on this extraordinary achievement and confirm Cleethorpes as the Major Armed Forces Day event held within the greater Yorkshire and Humber Region in 2015.
This year from 0900 we will have large numbers of service and veterans information access points, enterainment throught the day, road closures for pedestrian safety and markets across the resort.
The formal Armed Forces Day Parade will start at 1400 assembling at Knoll Street to parade through St Peters Avenue across market street and finally march up Alexandra Road where the salute will be given passing to halt at the Armed Forces Remembrance Gate.
At 1800 a sunset ceremony will be held followed by social engagments at Royal Naval Association, Royal Air Forces Association and other service friendly clubs. The entertainment will continue into the evening with a Hot Air Balloon ‘Night Glow’ to music; fireworks will then conclude the first day at 2200 to military and national music.
Day 2 (Sunday 28th) Will continue with street markets, entertainment and pedestrianisation of the resort to prepare for the Military Air Display which will take place at Cleethorpes Sea Front from 1230. We expect to see the BBMF, Falcons parachute display team and a large selection of military past and present aircraft – this will be a spectacular finale to the weekend of thanks to our Armed Forces, Reserve Forces, Veterans, their families and friends.
We have held events dedicated entirely to our Armed Forces since 2008; and through our ability to promote and network these successes, our Armed Forces Day has now become one of the largest held in England.
