PHOENIX FANFARE ARMED FORCES DAY EVENT
- St John\'s Rd,
579 Fd Sqn (EOD) are to run an AFD event to be held at Phoenix House (Sqn HQ, Royal Tunbridge Wells (RTW)) on Saturday 24 June 2017 to coincide with the wider AFD events regionally and nationally. The local communities of Southborough and RTW will be invited in order to celebrate the Army being in RTW and to create an awareness of the Army Reserve (AR), also to strengthen ties & relationships with our neighbours .
1. Historically the Sqn has held a Patrons Day event around this time of year which has been very successful, however, the intention is to develop this event to coincide with AFD and invite the local community through our gates to celebrate this occasion.
In order to make this event a memorable occasion local AR units within Kent are invited to setup a stand to exhibit their capability and inform who they are and what they do. Equally the organisations that we support or support us through the year are invited to showcase what they do i.e. organizations such as The Royal Engineer Association (REA), YMCA, Cadets, Challenger Troop, Defence Relationship Management (DRM), Employers of reservists, South East Reserve Forces Cadet Association (SERFCA), local emergency services etc. to name a few with more details to follow. Also it is hoped that local dignitaries and VIPs will be in attendance including Comd 8 Engr Brigade, who lives locally.
Our intention is to give this event a progressive amount of media / PR coverage delivered by SERFCA and Storm Communications including our own integral Social Media (SM) platforms, this will be directed at the local community to generate interest for the event. We will also advertise the event locally with posters in public places and hand deliver flyers through the doors of the immediate local communities to RTW AR Centre (RTWARC).
2. The overall aim is to not only celebrate the AR within the local communities but to also INFORM and ENGAGE through Civil Engagement (CE).
