Preston Armed Forces Day
- 8 Cheapside,
A day of family-friendly fun and entertainment has been lined up as Preston gets set to salute the Armed Forces at the Flag Market later this year. Armed Forces Day returns to the city on Saturday, June 25 when, in addition to the pomp and ceremony, an event for all the family has been organised.
We start with a service of remembrance followed by a performances from an Army Band and the Army Cadet force Core of drums.
We then will host a FREE concert organised by Preston Business Improvement District (BID) that boasts a line-up of performers guaranteed to bring in the crowds. The Voice’ winner, Kevin Simm, will be joined by X Factor champion Matt Cardle and Britain’s Got Talent winner Jai McDowall. They will be supported by other performers including: Sam Callaghan; Tiger Heart, who recently supported Peter Andre on his sell-out national tour; Janet Devlin; Hana Joy; Gabz, and District 12, hotly tipped to be Britain’s next big boy-band. They will perform live from a specially created stage on the balcony of the Harris Museum. Radio’s Danny Bee will present the show.
There will be Stalls and displays from Armed Forces Charities, military museums and the Armed Forces including various Vehicles. There will also be a funfair with many and various rides for kids of all ages. At some point in the afternoon we will also have a flypast by a WW2 SPITFIRE!!!
In the evening, held in the Guild Hall, we have our 3rd annual Tribute to the Troops Wrestling show; an event that has proven hugely popular with over 6000 in attendance last year. This year former WWE stars Rob Van Damn, Mr Anderson and Bill Gunn will headline the UK’s biggest wrestling show promoted by Preston City Wrestling.
Come and enjoy the fun, interact with soldiers, veterans and their families and let’s show them once again just what high regard the City of Preston Hold them all in.
