There will be a series of events in the run up to Armed Forces Day that will include a display of projects that have benefited from funding from the Armed Forces Community Covenant Grant Scheme; located in the foyer of Staffordshire Place 1.

The displays will include the ‘Stafford Armed Forces, Past & Present’ project which consists of photographs and excerpts taken from stories of veterans and current serving personnel from MOD Stafford:

  • The Staffordshire Regiment Museum for their ‘Front Line – Soldiers of Staffordshire’ project which has enabled the museum to improve its award winning education facilities including the construction of a German trench
  • The Whittington Tapestry project which is a unique mixed media tapestry depicting the history, present and future of Whittington Barracks currently being developed in partnership with the local community, schools and other organisations

Other displays may consist of the ‘Supporting the Unsung Hero’ Armed Forces Dependants’ Business Start-Up programme which has been developed specifically for Armed Forces families; to provide them with the skills and support to start and maintain a business.  There may even be an opportunity to experience some live crafting!

Further events taking place during the week are the re-signing of the Staffordshire Community Covenant as well as the promotion of the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant and Reserves Day.
