The Armed Forces Fold Family Day
We will be hosting an event for the military families of the nearby Catterick Garrison, which is 13 miles away from our 100 acre eco farm site. Our organisation has a history of running very successful craft, agriculture and animal husbandry programmes for Catterick’s military members and their dependants, so much so that we have received funding for a dedicated army families outreach centre to be built on our site. At this centre we will run craft courses including: felting, weaving, natural dyeing, greenwood work and pottery, along with growing delicious organic produce and caring for our farm animals.
This is currently being built, therefore we would love to celebrate the pending opening of the ‘Fold Army Family Centre’, which is scheduled for June 2019, by bringing the local armed forces families together. On our ‘Fold Armed Forces Family Day’ we would offer opportunities to take part in: greenwood work crafts, art printing, natural sculpture building in the garden, and a deliciously fresh organic lunch with cakes and refreshments.
With lots of smiles, laughter and fun activities, this will be a perfect family day for local military families to get a break from the Garrison, enjoying the farmyard feel of our site and the fresh air. In our experience we have found that days like this are vital for the well-being of military families, in order to relieve the pressures of military life, and boosting social cohesion among people of all ages and ranks in the Garrison. It will also be a perfect opportunity for us to publicise the progress of the Fold Army Family Centre, and to advertise its availability to local military personnel once it’s open.
