The Diehard Company visits Brecon!
- The Regimental Museum of The Royal Welsh,
The weekend of 27th to 28th June will see Brecon’s Regimental Museum of The Royal Welsh host one of Britain’s finest re-enactment groups; The Diehard Company! The Diehards are joining us to re-create an army camp from the 1879 Zulu War. Authentic uniforms, equipment and weapons will be used to demonstrate the life of a soldier during this period. Members of the Company shall be live-firing original examples of the iconic Martini Henry rifle, as well as giving talks on the weapons used by Zulu Warriors. All are welcome, but there will be a special opportunity for children to join Queen Victoria’s army! The Diehard’s camp is to be based on one of Brecon Rugby Club’s pitches for the weekend, but some of the demonstrations will also take place at the Museum (the two locations are a few minutes walk apart). Events are scheduled to begin at 11am on Saturday and Sunday and continue at regular intervals throughout the day.
