Ringwood — 27 June 2015
Armed Forces Day
- Bickerley Terrace,
Ringwood Town Council will be hosting an Armed Forces Day celebration in the town on Saturday 27th June after being awarded £3000 by the Ministry of Defence. This is the second time the council has successfully obtained funding for the National Event and plans are underway to create a community show on Bickerley Green which will be free for everyone to attend and involve community organisations as well as the military and re-enactors.
It is hoped to create an annual event in the town which will be made up of vintage and military vehicles along with fair rides, food stalls, live music and displays.
Organiser and Town Clerk Steve Nash said:
“As an ex-serviceman myself I am happy that the MoD has provided us with this funding and I hope local residents will get involved. We already have requests to establish a military style event in the town annually and will be looking into this in more detail.”
Ringwood Town Mayor Councillor Barbara Woodifield said:
“People have often said to me that nothing seems to happen in the town, well there is plenty going on now with events virtually every month from May to September. It’s important that as a town we should be involved in National Events and celebrations so I am pleased our calendar of events is still growing.”
More information will be available on the Town Council website about timings and activities. Organisations or business wanting stalls on the day should contact Mandy Oldfield the assistant organiser.
