Catterick Heritage AFD will host an event for all sectors of the local community to recognise the good work the Armed Forces community undertakes in defending our nation and keeping us safe. It will bring together forces personnel, families and veterans in a diverse civilian environment and educate the local community about the UK’s Armed Forces Community’s different roles such as humanitarian aid, peacekeeping, it’s positive role in community engagement and the different careers in the Armed Forces and the Reserve Forces. There will be a careers fair with local units promoting their work bringing in vehicles and military items and memorabilia for people to view and for families to enjoy. In a garrison with a large contingent of the UK forces community we will celebrate the achievements of our Armed Forces and help the local community feel welcome by offering cakes and snacks and a variety of other activities including arts and crafts which adults and young people and children will be able to participate in and feel welcomed.
