Every year, we come together in support of our military men and women, reservists, veterans and cadets to mark Armed Forces Day 2026, which falls on Saturday, June 27, 2026.
This day is traditionally preceded by a national flag-raising ceremony held on the preceding Monday, which for this year is Monday, June 22, 2026. This ceremony acts as the official start of Armed Forces Week.
A flag will be raised in tribute at Penrith Town Hall at 10:00am on Monday, June 22, 2026.
We are asking attendees to muster at 09:45 am at the front of the building in front of the steps.
A bugler from Penrith Town Band will mark the ceremony by playing the last post and a salute will made.
Several speeches will be delivered by the Mayor of Penrith, Westmorland and Furness Council representatives and special guest military representatives.
The flag raising will be followed by refreshments at the Sandgate Room, Penrith Methodist Church.
Invitations are extended to veterans, and families and interested parties from the community.
