For the fi rst time, Churchill & Langford Parish Council, in partnership with The Village Fund and Churchill Music, will deliver a traditional village fête and free-to-enter concert at Churchill Recreation Ground to celebrate Armed Forces Day 2026.
With participation from local cadet and reserve forces units, this inclusive, all-ages event will celebrate the service and contribution of our local Armed Forces Family while bringing the wider community together in a welcoming village setting. This initiative forms part of our broader programme to strengthen community cohesion and reduce loneliness, particularly among older residents.
The centrepiece will be a music-in-the-marquee performance by the Royal Marines Association Concert Band. The programme will include traditional military marches, overtures, solo performances and well-known West End selections, culminating in a “Last Night of the Proms” style finale.
Military charities and service organisations may attend to offer information on support services and pathways for young people interested in music and uniformed service. Refreshments will be provided by independent vendors and the adjacent Market Kitchen Café.
This free community celebration will provide a meaningful opportunity for connection, recognition and shared civic pride.
