Crawley Armed Forces Day is an event run by Crawley Borough Council with support from its military partners. It’s a celebration and bringing together of both the local military community and the civilian population.
The event commences with a military possession around Memorial Gardens and Queens Square led by a Bugle Pipe Band with Standard Bearers and groups including The Royal British Legion, SSAFA, 4PWRR, cadet groups and local Armed Forces Breakfast Clubs. This is followed by speeches from The Crawley Mayor, The Cabinet Lead for Community Services and a representative from 4PWRR. The National Anthem is then played and the Armed Forces Flag is raised.
Entertainment will then begin on the bandstand including various acts throughout the day. There will be stalls from different military groups , military vehicles on display and a refreshment stand.
The event is usually attended by the Sherriff of West Sussex or/ and a representative from the Lord Lieutenancy Office. Furthermore, local Crawley and West Sussex Councillor’s are normally in attendance.
