Eckington Parish Council will invite the community to celebrate Armed Forced Day at Stead Street Play Park and Blubell Cafe. It is a perfect space for the celebration as at the Cafe we host monthly ‘Veteran Hub’ for the community. The park itself offers a perfect space for community – from children, adults, families to elderly. We will decorate the space with flags, balloons, buntings. Pizza van and bar will be available outside as well as cafe will be open for the public. Our local armed forced groups will be presents (air cadets, army cadets, scouts, brownies) using the day for the recruiting and fund raising. Royal British Legion representative confirmed the attendance. We will have a stall with some memorabilia items. Brass Band will be playing for about 2 hours. We are looking into a singer but it is not confirmed. We will also add free entertainment for children such as face painting. Our aim is to spread the word about the armed forced groups, showcase their jobs and what it involves. As the entertainment will be free, we will place the donation buckets/walking around with them. All donation will go towards Armed Forced Groups.
