The RDVG is supported by Branch members of Rushden and District Royal Naval Association, Royal British Legion, Royal Air Forces Association and the Northants Veterans Military Club. For 2026 the Royal Naval Association branch is leading the AF26 events.
The event starts at 11am with various stalls in the Good Shed, a parade commencing at 1pm followed by a Drumhead Service.
On completion of the parade, at the Goods Shed, we hold a Drumhead service. The parade and Drumhead Service is supported by local cadet forces and standard bearers from the RNA, RBL and RAFA.
The parade marches from the Playground, Alfred Lord Tennyson School (postcode NN10 9NL) onto and along John Street, turning right onto Church Street against the flow of traffic, up Skinners Hill and turning left towards Rushden War Memorial (NN10 9YU), we salute the War Memorial as we march past (respecting the fallen named on the War Memorial) and continue left down High Street
The saluting dais (for Dignitaries) will be placed in front of the Independent Wesleyan Church (NN100PJ), where there is likely to be a high concentration of the public. At the end of the High Street opposite Asda, we turn right into John Clark Way and halt on the road opposite Rushden Historical Transport Society Goods Shed (NN10 0AW). Here the parade falls out.
En route there will be half a dozen or so vintage military vehicles that will be part of the procession. There will be a saluting dais (for dignitaries) placed in front of the Independent Wesleyan Church (NN10 0PJ) on the High Street.
Dignitaries this year will include HM Deputy Lieutenant of Northamptonshire, Brigadier David Russell-Parsons DL and Honorary Captain Mary Hardy RNR who is representing Commodore Tim Green, Area Naval Commodore for the Eastern & London area. We will have the Rushden Town Mayor and local councillors.
Free parking is available in all Rushden Town Council car parks and the event has disability friendly access at the Goods Shed.
