Consett SMARTT Veterans Armed Forces Day is a day dedicated to honouring and recognising the service and sacrifice of active military personnel, veterans, and their families. We aim to raise awareness of the sacrifices made by our service personnel and their families.

Activities will take place across the day, including parades, allowing people to participate in various celebrations. The day serves as an opportunity for the public to engage with the Armed Forces past and present, and express gratitude for their service to our Nation.

We will also offer a support hub on the day for informational advice and guidance on services providing resources for veterans and their families, including health services and employment opportunities, and offer support in tackling the challenges faced by veterans over 50 in County Durham who are struggling to find their feet after leaving the forces.

We aim for our service personnel, veterans and their families in Consett, to connect, find support, and tackle challenges head-on. It’ll help them feel less isolated, more confident, and more positive about the future. It’s about giving them a boost and showing them they’re not alone.
