“The Big Day Out” Celebrating Armed Forces Day at Craiglockhart Campus

At the historical campus of Craiglockhart Campus pioneering site for shell shock treatment during World War I, where figures such as Siegfried Sassoon and Wilfred Owen received care. Scotland’s Veterans Wellbeing Alliance (SVWA) and the Centre for Military Research, Education, and Public Engagement will host a day of celebration for our Armed Forces Community. Edinburgh Napier University as a Gold Covenant University are delighted to open up our campus to the community.

There will be something for everyone from pipe bands, to “Forces got Talent” competition, the Standeasy treasure hunt for children young and old! crafting and arts activities, outdoor games and the beloved Brave Hounds dog show. Our nearby neighbours from 51 Brigade and our Officer and Schools Cadets will be joining us along with various SVWA partners leading wellness and activity workshops. This history is preserved in the War Poets Collection, an important literary and historical site which will also be open for folks to join guided tours.
