We are currently planning a large community event to mark the occasion. The intention is to bring together veterans, serving personnel, local residents, and military heritage groups to thank them for their service. Our plans include a Hog Roast, a Live 1940’s style Singer in the afternoon, stands from the Royal British Legion and the 389th Bomb Group, as well as a display of historic military vehicles. We also plan to have the City of Norwich Pipe Band parade outside during the afternoon.

In addition, this May the Royal British Legion will mark the 15th anniversary of the end of the War in Iraq, remembering the extraordinary service and sacrifice of the British Armed Forces in the Coalition. We would very much like to incorporate recognition of this anniversary into our event in a respectful and meaningful way.

This year also marks the 85th anniversary of the production of the first Jeep used in the 2nd World War, and we hope to organise a strong presence of these iconic vehicles as part of the military vehicle display.
