The nation’s veterans were honoured as part of this year’s commemorations for the 70th anniversary of VE Day.
The events included a Service of Remembrance and a national 2 minute silence, the lighting of more than 200 beacons right across the UK, a spectacular commemorative concert , a Service of Thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey and a parade of veterans and currant personnel through Whitehall where the original victory celebrations took place 70 years ago.
